Linda wears Prada

Sasha Pivovarova is about to be dethroned by 90’s supermodel Linda Evangelista as the face of the next Prada autumn/winter 08 campaign. The 43-year-old Canadian born model, mother and former face of M.A.C Viva Glam and L’Oréal is going to be shot by Steven Meisel. Her last project with Meisel was the satirical headline-making Vogue “Makeover Madness” issue, which featured a photo shoot of models getting plastic surgery. Strangely enough, Evangelista publicly admitted that she regularly gets Botox injections to combat wrinkles.

First of all, I have to tell you that I LOVE your blog! It's interesting, fascinating, and informative.

Linda has a history of being too honest and her botox statement in Vogue from August 2006 is no exception. She doesn't use botox to the point of being "facially immobile" but she does use it for enhancement. Her recent paparazzi shots show that her face is totally mobile. And here's the real deal: Most working models PAST 30 use botox. It's just that Linda is the only one to admit it. Botox isn't bad, and is used by legions of women. Unfortunately, the younger crowd on the internet doesn't get it and they won't until they are older.

As for Linda in Prada: Bravo. It's nice to see older models get to work with the big leagues. And it makes sense, really. After all, it's mostly older women with the big money that can actually afford these clothes. It's about time that women stopped trying to be something they are not and are accepting their age with dignity and pride. A 40-year old woman trying to emulate a 16-year old model from a fashion editorial is not only unrealistic, but unhealthy.
